I was just wondering if there is a new release coming soon or if maybe there was a beta of version 3?

I'm used to the days of yore when there would be an update each week. Kinda missing the feeling of a new feature to play with all the time.

Granted, the software as it stands now is awesome and I really can't think of any tweaks that I need. Well, there is the Pocket PC remote control through wireless. But since I don't even have a Pocket PC, that feature isn't really a big deal.

Unless I am mistaken, one would only have access if one is a paid subscriber. Laughing

Is there a way for non-paying subscribers to check out the latest beta of version 3? If could convince said non-paying subscribers to become paying subscribers.

I second this motion. I'm fairly broke and would at least like a list of features before I shell out some Mac & Cheese cash to find what's in the new version. A beta or limited feature version would be nice, but I won't shell out money until at least I know what is in the new version.

a) There's no schedule

b) Here's the current released beta: http://drneau.com/TournamentManagerV3BETA200608172305.zip

c) Here's a video explaining the concept of the "repository": http://drneau.com/Videos/DrNeau01-StartingAndRepo/DrNeau01-StartingAndRepo.html I'm going to do a lot more videos like this in the future to ease adoption of the application.

This was the 2nd beta posted for v3.

Beta 1 focused on the "repository" strucuture and making sure all that worked.

Beta 2 took it farther. I added intelligent error handling for component loading, enhanced console components for shadows, borders and opaque settings, created a chip distribution planner, implemented a calendar widget for date selection, and created the player database.

Note that you cannot yet create and run a tournament in beta 2.

Beta 3 will be next. In it, I'm adding all the capabilities to manage knowledge collections (hand nicknames, quotations, rules, announcements, terminology, quiz questions and trivia)

Other things that will be in v3 that aren't in v2:
- Exporting of a tournament/league into a data file for easier data extraction into whatever you want
- Support for multiple tournament structures other than the standard, including: single-elimination heads-up, double-elimination heads-up, multiple table freeze-out, etc.
- A player database, with more advanced player tracking
- A payout structure preview
- More flexibility for league ranking methods: You can define which tournaments in a league should count in the rankings (so that you could include a championship or satellite in your league but not have it affect rankings). Also, the ability to add points to a player directly in the tournament results (the formula could then either use those points or ignore them)
- The repository, which can be picked up and moved to any machine with ease.
- Wizards for everything (tournament creation, league creation, etc)
- Console themes
- More alert types (break ending in X, with the ability to define multiples of these)
- The ability to design your own chips
- Support for virtually any game type (each round has ante, bring-in, small bet, large bet, small blind and large blind)
- A hand odds predictor, somewhat like the one on cardplayer, but more flexible

That's all I can think of right now.

Holy Mother of Moses!

1. I'm almost scared that you need videos on how to use it. But that is a really good idea.
2. I don't think I was expecting such a large overhaul of design. I'm impressed at the list.
3. I need to cut back on Mac & Cheese and get me some money ready for Beta 3.

Doc, did you happen to do a video in the english language? I was looking and looking for the "for english press #1" button but then the video was over.

Mwah, Hah Hah.

I am actually glad its taking a while for v3 cause now I am getting more familiar with v2.

Then you'll appreciate v3 that much more.

I personally can't wait to use it for my own tournaments. Much much slicker.
