Just a quick update on v3.
I've been spending a lot of time handling the metamorphasis of a player from "Name" to "ID", "First Name" and "Last Name" as well as adding other fields.
It was staggering the number of places in the code that depended on a player's full name.
I'm now working on splitting up a "console configuration" into multiple entities.
One entity will be a "console layout". This is what you'd call a "console" in v2.
A related entity will be a "console configuration"...but I need a better name for it. Please suggest one. This is a way for you to define which consoles should be used for what purposes, what alarms you want, etc.
So, for a given tournament, you'll simply be able to tell that tournament to use an existing "console configuration". Run a separate tournament right after that? Have it use a different configuration. This will be much simplier than it is in v2 and make a lot more sense. _________________ --

Yay! It's so nice to see that things are progressing! It just keeps getting gooder and gooder.

I posted the update to this in another thread, so you may have missed it...
I'm going with "Console Theme" for the name. A "Theme" references "Console Layouts" that it uses. (It doesn't define and own them...it just references them. That way, you can easily share Layouts between Themes).
When I say, "It references the Layouts that it uses", a theme lets you point to multiple Layouts for your "PreTournament", multiple for "Play", etc. This also lets you rotate between layouts during play. At any time, you'll be able to tell the console to use a specific layout until you cancel it.
A "Theme" also defines the alerts that are used.
So, a tournament is simply going to reference a "Theme" that should be used for that tournament. You can have all the tournaments in your leage use the same theme, or have them each use a different one.
Sound good? _________________ --
