|
|
I'm looking through all the enhancement requests + my ideas and decided it's time to target "release 3".
I'll be working on release 3 in parallel with the current release (release 2). I'll still add enhancements to release 2 that make sense and fix bugs.
Stay tuned for the release 3 vision statement.
I'll use this forum to discuss the release 3 development as it happens. Please give me your feedback!! _________________ --

doc, do you have a target beta release date at this time? _________________ good players take far more beats, because they're getting it in good far more often. |

I'm targeting the first beta for mid to late June.
The focus on the beta is the repository, the components that live within it, the creation/copying/design/renaming/deletion of those components and the relationship between them.
"Components" are divided into two categories right now:
- Console Configuration (Images, Audios, Chip Designs, Console Console Layouts and Console Themes)
- Tournament Building Blocks (Betting Schedules, Checklists, Chip Cases, Payout Schedules, Ranking Methods and Table Configurations)
Each of these components can be created and edited outside of the context of a tournament. For each component type, there will be "core" components that ship with the product. You'll also be able to create as many of your own as you want and have them live appear in your "library". Everything you create lives in a "repository" which can be picked up and moved whereever you want (even from system to system). All you have to do is start TM and point it at your repository (assuming it doesn't already know where it lives).
Here are some screen shots of what I'm working on...
The new startup screen. Note that it gives you the opportunity to specify your repository. It always remembers the last location used...
The new Audio Library panel. Note that it tells you the size of the audios on the filesystem and information about their format. I wanted to add the size to help people remember that audios loaded into memory means the app takes more memory. When you add a new audio, it is copied into your repository. No more external references...
The new Image Library panel. Like the audio panel, it tells you the size of the images. It also tells you the dimensions. I'm envisioning that you'll eventually be able to edit the images through here (crop, resize, etc.). Images are copied into the repository when you add them.
The new Theme Designer. This is where you specify which consoles to use, which audios to use for which alerts, etc.
The new Chip Design Library. You can create your own chip designs! It works now!
The new Betting Schedule designer. Similar to the old one, but better.
Please, if anything jumps out at you as, "why the hell did you do it that way", speak up![/b] _________________ --

The other thing I need to do is manage dependency relationships...for instance...
If you want to delete/rename a chip design that is used by one or more chip cases...
If you want to d/r an image used by one or more console layouts...
If you want to d/r an audio or layouts used by one or more themes...
The app will first warn you about references (telling you everywhere it is referenced), then give you the option of updating all the references automatically (which entails resaving entities to the filesystem). _________________ --

Just wondering if this topic (http://www.drneau.com/BB/viewtopic.php?t=890) will be implemented in the next version?
It would be great if so.
