At the time of the tourney (March 2004) Gordon's biggest "claim to fame" was a 4th in the 2001 WSOP Main Event and really wasn't considered one of the "top pros".

In direct contrast to "another Phil" Gordon is likely THE most humble and genuinely personable pros you'd ever want to meet inside or outside a poker room (Greg Raymer would be a close second). And, he's a much better player than he gives himself credit for.

One thing Phil is absolutely the best at is teaching the game.

He's got a new DVD out called "Final Table Poker" that is something that should be added to any poker player's library.

He takes a very unique angle with it... you only see his hole cards as he plays a tournament final table, while you get inside his head as he "thinks out loud" during play.

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson plays himself in a supporting role...
Quote:
" ... is one of the world’s best poker players and also one of the nicest guys I know. He’s on the short stack right now but he’s still got room to work. Chris and I talk poker all the time, so I know he knows my game well. To get the best of Chris, I’m gonna have to mix up my normal game against him, and give him some looks he hasn’t seen from me before. "

As does Matt Savage as the TD.

Rachael Huntley of "Mr. And Mrs. Smith" fame plays the role of Harmony Jensen...
Quote:
" ... is an awesome player in every respect with no glaring weaknesses. My guess is that Harmony will wait for strong hands and watch as the maniacs pick each other off. She respects my game and considers me a tight, aggressive player so I might be able to run a bluff against her. Then again, she might be able run a bluff against me. "

I'm thinking that's supposed to be the DVD's equivalent of Anne Duke.

For the curious... if you have Quicktime... here's a preview...
