I thought this was amusing. Apparently the WSOP has no way of assigning seats for players in their tournaments. Initially they were just seating them in the order they registered. One possible effect of this is the seating together of players who pre-registered, which group might have a bias of being made up of a higher proportion of serious, tight tourney players. More worringly, they left themselves exposed to the possibility of a group of friends registering together and ending up at the same table. Clearly not good.

So they decided to assign seats by last name. Pro Phil Gordon, not thrilled at being seated at a table with fellow pros Clonie Gowen and Barry Greenstein, cracked, "Well, at least the Nguyens are screwed."

They maybe should upgrade to Tournament Manager, don't you think?

Seriously though, WTF was in my head?

Note the time of the post - not enough time for coffee to have taken effect. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
