I have a situation here where I am going to talk to our local casino to start using the good Dr's TM. After setting up all the audio and images on V3 I see how it could be useful for them and the dealers. And their current software sucks, as well as the tournament manager who forgets to announce blinds and such.

The only thing to keep me from the discussion is league scoring, and having alternate players. I will explain:

The league has 80 seats, held 2x a week. BUT they allow alternates. So for the first hour if someone busts out then an alternate takes that seat.

Now for the buy in. It is actually a free roll, where $1000 is house-added to the pot for the top 5, but can be chopped after 10. If that happens then if is a freeze out as soon as the final table agrees to chop.

The tricky thing about the scoring is that anyone playing cash poker before (early bird) gets 500 TC for every hour they play, up to three hours. There is also a $2 jackpot add-on for 200 TC, $5 add-on for 1000 TC. So there is potentially 5 differnt add-ons. To add to the issue is anyone with 2 hours of early bird play gets double points. And points are only awarded to the top 20 players. I am not seeing a way to address all the issues here with the add-ons.

Any insight would be great. I would love to approach them and have them use the V3, especially since the points would be calculated as soon as the tournament is over.

Thanks in advance.

Why are alternate players a problem? You just buy the alternates in as they sit down. I personally know someone in town here who was using my software to manage alternates 4 years ago Smile

The only issue I see is that silly double points for people with 2 hours of early bird play.

Actually, the double thing can be done.

There's a "manual points" field which could be used as a multiplier, then the scoring formula could use it. I can elaborate if needed.

Please do. I would like to get it worked out so I can show them how easy it would be to use it... once it is setup of course.

I think I figured it out. So rather than make the chip-up and jackpots add-ons I made 4 different Buy-ins. the freeroll, a free+jp, a free+cu and a free+cu+jp. Then I created each early bird as as an add-on. So earlybird2, earlybird2 and earlybird3 where each different buy-in adds chips as needed and rakes and distributes the buyin...

then i created the scoring to be if statements. if add-ons >= 2 then you multiply the score by 2, else the score is normal.

Now the only thing I need to address, I think, is the payout option. would you just ignore the program if the final table decides to chop the pot at 6 players and do the math manually?

For now, yes. I have an enhancement to add payout chopping.
