|
|
I have had this issue on multiple occasions. Only tourney manager is running, after a couple of hours it slows down drastically. To the point that I need to close it and restart it.
Because of this I find myself managing the software as much as my tournaments. What happens first is that any menu selections get really slow, for example, if i want to save the tournament or knock out a player, to click the menu it takes forever almost to the point of freezing before you can make a selection. knocking out a player can seriously take 5 minutes.
In addition, if i do not restart the program the clock itself will slow down. to the point that it may take 10-20 second or more for a single second to go by.
My system is windows vista, with the latest java, although i have run into this problem an XP and previous versions of java |

When you say "Latest Java", which Java? From whom?
Also, what are the resources on your system? _________________ --

I've been having similar though less drastic issues on an XP box... I do (barely) get through one tourney, but need to restart to run a second. |

Since you appear to know a little about your system, make sure that when you execute it, it's using the Sun Java and not the crappy Microsoft Java. Which one gets used when you double-click on a JAR? _________________ --

Make sure you don't have any Animated GIFs running either - that one through my system into a tizzy...

On the small occasions I do run the software, I run into the same issue.
I'm running a Vista laptop with Sun Java and it works fine for the first hour or so, slows a bit during hours 2 and 3, anything after that and it's a dead crawl. I can't even save the tournament and reopen it as the system has completely locked.
I'll take a look tonight and check the java version. I know I've tried the most recent Java and also a much older version (like 1.4 or 1.5) with same results.
That reminds me, I think I'm having a large game coming up so I will need to make a payment again soon. _________________ <thwack> NOooooooBODY expects to lose to Rewind!

Just downloaded it yesterday. I have to get used to the layout - but I do say it seems nicer already. I'll test how it runs and see if it slows down like v2 does. I'm hoping the answer is no. _________________ <thwack> NOooooooBODY expects to lose to Rewind!

I did have the slowdown with v2 once or twice, but couldn't pinpoint why it was happening. My guess was that there were structures I was creating and failing to remove.
With v3, I made a concerted effort to look out for those kinds of things and I periodically go through the code looking for more.
I've run 6 7-hour tournaments with v3 and never had a slowdown. _________________ --
