Okay,
In v2, cleaning fixing the state of the tournament is a pain in the ass...it requires editing history and in some situations isn't even possible.
v3 is going to be a LOT easier in this regard. In v3, history is simply for bookkeeping, rather than like in v2 where history is the authority. This will have two benefits in v3:
- Better performance (history doesn't need to be validated with each new event), and
- Easier editing
How it'll work in the normal course of events:
When you purchase a buy-in, add-on or rebuy, the following happens:
- The player's state is updated appropriately,
- The purchase is added to the player,
- An event is added to history,
- The purchase and the history item are linked with an ID
When you eliminate someone:
- The player's state is updated appropriately,
- The elimination is added to the knockout log,
- The eliminators' knockout counts are updated appropriately,
- An event is added to history,
- The knockout and the history item are linked with an ID
In the normal course of events, you'll do just like before...purchase a buy-in, eliminate someone, rebuy, add-on, etc. However, what if you purchased the wrong buy-in? What if you need to correct the eliminations? What if you need to undo a buy-in for a player who didn't show?
Editing an elimination:
- You can go right to the knockout log and edit the elimination. You can also add and delete eliminations. Simply doing this does not affect player state in any way...it simply updates knockout counts. If you want, and if a history event is linked, you can also have it automatically update the history event. Note that this may result in invalid history, but we don't have to care about that if we don't want...
Editing player state & chip purchase options:
- You'll be able to bring up the details for a player and do multiple things, including: Change their state, change the buy-in they purchased, edit the add-ons/rebuys, remove add-ons/rebuys, etc. etc. etc.
All that will work great.
However, my question to you: What edit operations might you need to perform in mass (and these are only edit operations). For instance, you might want to remove all add-on purchases for multiple players at once...you might want to move multiple players from "Active" to "Listed" at once. _________________ --

then have a "refresh" or "submit" type button to update the tournament results. |
