On the Simple Alert Editor window, there is no way to delete all audio clip references. I selected an audio clip for an alert, but I later changed my mind about using the alert. All I could do was deactivate the alert but the audio clip is still referenced.

Edit Alert->"Set" Audio Clips->"Select None"->Apply
