I know this is last minute since you are finishing up the last items for Version 3... but...

We will start offering a cash game night starting tomorrow. I designed a template for it and realized that it would be pretty simple to have a wizard to do it.

Basically cash games just need a timer for breaks and end of playtime.

IMO, sounds like overkill. What do you need from the software that you don't get from a watch or cell phone?

Well it's just a matter of having the screen display.

You can still show chip values, countdown to breaks, have important info show up on the screen and that sort of things.

I agree that for cash games you don't actually need much but since we do have TM why not take advantage of it?

There will already be a wizard to create tournaments quickly, having the option to create cash game quickly seems to me good. Not like it will take much effort to do.

The actual hard part is re-designing the console to show the info that you need. But if the rest is done with the wizard, it's still saves time.

Just define only break or pre events or the same levels all the time. Your chip values are shown on the left and you can see the time till the next break (break event needed). The rest of the buy-ins and rebuys (which you don't have in CG) should be disabled in a registered TnM version (in the overlay) and that will be fine.

Scheduled breaks? End time? Chip value? Huh?

We're talking about a cash game, right? Where you can stand up and go pee or take a smoke or whatever else at any time? Where you can leave whenever you want, and the game can go as late as it needs to? Where the same chips are in play all night?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Ya we droped the breaks, people were not using them. Seems like a good idea this way you don't need to miss hands or anything. But yeah, not really needed.

Major issue was to have a different set of chips with different values than for tournaments. I resolved it by creating a duplicate or TM on the HD and forcing it to use a specific preference file.

Any cash game I've played in has "sandwich time".

V3 will give you the ability to have a break at a specific time.

Any status info about how far V3 is away? Or is it just "When it's done" ?

The beta will be out as soon as I get the new licensing mechanism integrated...that's the ONLY holdup.
