Yeah, enter a note in the log that says, "X, Y and Z chop the pot".
That's something that's on the list. It would be a wizard that would help you calculate a fair chop option based on the size of the remaining stacks.
Personally, I think chopping is for pussies
When I'm at a side game in the BB and the SB offers a chop, I refuse and raise. _________________ --

I can't say I'm a fan either, but last night, 2 other players wanted to do this. I didn't know how to document it.
So, add a note to the 'log'? Is that the 'history'? I don't see a log, but it's not a big deal.
Thanks again. |

Yeah. History=log.
So, for now it's on the list. Just one of those things I need to brainstorm on before I can do it. _________________ --

DrN... given the various ways chopping pots can be done that could be a nightmare.... LOL.
Are you thinking of a particular formula? _________________ - Dix |

You could offer 2 options:
# of players equally take a chop of the remaining pot OR
Player A takes= "$xxx"
Player B takes= "$xxx"
Player C takes= "$xxx"
Maybe display what the pot divided by players is so that if they want to enter in round numbers they can do that. |

Then who places first, second, and third? I have seen chops where a guy will give up first place in exchange for more cash. _________________ Lifes too short to play with cheap chips |

Maybe I'm wrong, but from what I've read it is my understanding that chops aren't usually officially part of any tournament. When they used to happen as part of the WSOP on a regular basis (before the TV age), it'd be a deal between the remaining players. Play still continues for who will OFFICIALLY take 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. Basically, if you're looking for the winningest player or something like that... the value shoud come from the OFFICIAL results, not the chopped results.
And for all you people that hate chopping so much... I've never asked for a prize pool to be split, or anything like that... infact, I've done a few reverse chops in a small game I play where 2nd place gets 20% or so, and 1st place takes 80%, where when it got down to two players, I've just said to the other guy "wanna just play winner takes all?" |

Generally, in major tourneys, even a chopped pot will still leave something on the table to play for... like a certain amount of cash and the bracelet in the case of the WSOP for example.
Perfect example was at the final table of the Main Event at this year's World Championship Of Online Poker at PokerStars.
Play was down to four players... (amounts here are not exact but serve the purpose)
Players discussed the possiblity of a deal so TD paused the tourney (mostly I think because the Borgata was about to start in like 4 or 5 hours and a couple of them were entered & in need of some shuteye)
The remaining prize money left to be claimed was $1.5M...
The std deal as calculated by PokerStars (which the players could modify if they wanted it was merely a suggestion) was...
- Leave 100K and the bracelet on the table to play for
- Each player recieved $200K since 4th was worth that much
- Remaining $600K was divided by chipstack directly related to that player's percentage of the total amount of chips in play.
If you're really into crunching numbers Barry Greenstein has an outtake from his book about tourney deals that's pretty extensive...
