Just needs to be some sort of network connection. Doesn't matter if it's wireless.

Could be two laptops connected with a crossover cable. Could be laptops in two different houses. Just as long as there is a network connection.

What were you thinking of using?

If you can get the laptops to talk to each other, then the software should work.

However, my hunch is that you'll need a router for your situation (unless there's something I don't know). Wireless cards can't talk to each other...they need a router to go through.

Anyone?

You can connect 2 computers together using wireless cards. For any more than that you will need a Wireless Access Point, or Router with Wireless Access Point.

I Haven't started using this software live yet--This Saturday will be the first time. I have noticed a couple of thing Wireless and Wired.
When I have the server wired and the client wireless and I stop the timer for more then 45 seconds the client disconnects. This same happens when both server and client are wireless (Laptops) Is there a way to prevent this? After I restart the timer from the server nothing happens on the client. That's when I see the red line on the server page that it is disconnected. When I try to reconnect the client it just hangs. I end up shutting the process down. This would cause issues if the tourney was running live.

Any help appreciated.

Lately when we are testing the client/server - as soon as the client connects - the server PC locks up solid.

Going to do try a different PC later.

Not to beat an old drum, but I'm pretty sure that an Airport-equipped Mac can create a network (without an access point) that is not limited to 2 wireless nodes.
