Are the tournament files from v2 will be compatible with the new v3?
am I will be able to open past tournaments ran with the v2 on the v3?
am I will be able to open past league created with v2 on the v3?
And what about the all other components? (Automation Preferences, Betting Schedule, Chip Case, Payout Schedule, Roster, Consoles, Ranking Method, Table/Seating Layout, Tournament Finances and Tournament Checklist)
Thanks,
Eddie |

Not compatible. Entirely different.
Able to open tournaments? After I write a converter.
Able to open leagues? After I write a converter.
Automation preferences: Don't apply
Every other component will need to be converted. _________________ --

I know you've been busy on working the kinks out of V3, but do you have any timeline on when a converter might be available?
Thanks |

Working on it right now. I'll have it for the next beta. _________________ --

OK. The plan...
First, if you have a v2 league, you'll need to save out each tournament to a separate file (that's a trivial task...I did a 10-tournament league in about 1 minute).
Then, you'll import one tournament at a time into v3. For each tournament, the import controller will go through the following process:
Step 1: Parse the core financials and attributes[\b]
This will parse out the tournament name, description, game type, limit type, chip purchase options, rakes and lump adds. If it finds a global bounty, it will create an appropriate public global bounty to match it. It will then prompt you with
[b]Step 2: Core attributes dialog
This is the same core attributes panel you know from the "New Tournament Wizard". The purpose here is for you to:
a) Confirm/modify the core info
b) Make sure the tournament name is unique (you can't proceed until it is)
c) Select a player database and, optionally, a league with which the tournament will be associated
Step 3: Player matchup
This will be a new panel where you matchup the players found in the tournament you are importing with players in your database. The panel will try to find matches for you. In the event it can't, you'll be able to:
- Create new database players
- Associate existing database players
You cannot continue to this panel until every player is mapped. It will also ensure you don't map two or more tournament players to the same database player.
After you do this, any public-targeted bounties that need to be created will be created.
Step 4: Payout schedule and expense parsing
This will happen without you having to review it
Step 5: History parsing
Also happens behind the scenes.
At this point, your new tournament is created, marked complete and saved to your repository.
Note. My current plan is to only bring over the information required to reproduce the correct results. To that end, I'm not planning on bringing over the following information (at least, unless someone can give me a really good reason why I should):
- The betting schedule
- The chip case
- The chip distribution plan
- Console settings
- Seating information
- The checklist
- Non-critical history items (notes, seating, timing) _________________ --

I just spent a couple of days writing a converter between TournamentDirector v2 and DrNTMv3 only to find out that TMv3 doesn't yet import it's own dogfood!
I've got a bunch of TD tourneys I'd like to move over...
ETA? |
