|
|
I have looked in the help section of version 3 and see no reference to this task. My league equation is very convoluted (there is no possibility it can be determined without multiple -over 100-boolean formulas). I have asked numerous users as well as Dr. Neau for help with this equation but nobody seems to understand the process (i will pay anyone on this discussion board $25 paypal if they can give me an easier version). I would like to migrate my equation from version 2 to save me the THREE HOURS it took me took me to plug it in last time. Is there a way to import from a html doc?
As an aside, version 2 worked like a charm- i never had ANY problems with it at all and then along comes version 3 and everything has to be started from scratch again. Dr. Neau, have you ever wondered why people get frustrated with NEW AND IMPROVED software products? Usually, it's because they are only new and NOT improved. |

Put this in your pipe and smoke it (in other words, copy into a text file and drop into your repository's scoring methods directory):
Code: | <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ScoringMethod Name="SourGrapes" Type="Formula" LastModified="May 08, 2009 4:32:05:21 PM">
<PlaceTieMethod Type="Average" />
<TournamentScoringFormula>
<TSFNumericFormula Type="Add">
<TSFNumericConstant Value="0.5" />
<TSFNumericFormula Type="Floor">
<TSFNumericFormula Type="Divide">
<TSFNumericVariable Type="Tournament Buy-in Count" />
<TSFNumericFormula Type="Power">
<TSFNumericConstant Value="2.0" />
<TSFNumericFormula Type="Subtract">
<TSFNumericVariable Type="Player Finish" />
<TSFNumericConstant Value="1.0" />
</TSFNumericFormula>
</TSFNumericFormula>
</TSFNumericFormula>
</TSFNumericFormula>
</TSFNumericFormula>
</TournamentScoringFormula>
</ScoringMethod> |
BTW, I assume you're still using this method: http://drneau.com/BB/viewtopic.php?p=6564&highlight=#6564 _________________ --

Also, if you're like me, you'll use v3 for a while then look back at v2 like it was a piece of crap...v3 is slightly improved. _________________ --

No response from gatorcavor yet...someone should check on him. I'm afraid he might have knocked himself out when he slapped himself in the forehead. _________________ --

Thanks, Dr. Neau, for the interest in my well-being. I have not put the equation in yet, but if it works, you will get the $25 paypal as promised. The equation should read "10-thumbed monkey using a computer" instead of "sour grapes", though.
My pipe is 3 feet long so hopefully i will not be disappointed if it's cashed prematurely. Only time will tell...
And as far as the building of my roll, I play exclusively on "donkey river poker.net"!
So this equation will give me the following results when i play a 37 player tournament:
1st=37.0+0.5=37.5
2nd=18.5+0.5=19.0
3rd=9.0+0.5=9.5
4th=4.5+0.5=5.0
5th=2.0+0.5=2.5
6th=1.0+0.5=1.5
7th-37th=0.5
If that is the case, you will have the $$$ as promised. If not, I will just to put the shotgun back in my mouth and wait for someone else to help. |

And hey. How about a little faster turnaround on this one. You can't bitch like that and then take 3 weeks to look at it. _________________ --

I've sent you a private email with an attached error log generated by the program. It also includes my description of the steps taken that led to the error.
I've found a much easier way to do it (spreadsheet form): simply creating a tier for each possibility of tournament participants. I stopped at 47 tiers since that's the most people we have ever had play at one time. I suppose if I have more players than that, it's just a matter of manually adding another tier per person. I'm not sure if you qualify for the $25, since I haven't gotten your new formula to work yet. That may be for an entirely different reason than the function within the scoring method itself (such as the TM program not recognizing the type of file, perhaps?). But seeing as how you spent the time to help me, I will give you at least half for just trying. If you can figure out (through the error report generated) what was wrong, AND the latest scoring method does indeed work (despite my efforts), I will gladly honor the $25, even though my solution is intact. But do not send me another different scoring method in anticipation of $25 (thank God you don't charge real doctor rates). |

Couldn't try it if I wanted to. More importantly, how do y'all figure this stuff out? I'm so confused. My folks warned me about not going to college. |
