Setting up a tournament, I set one of the players as a clock operator. I also select the clock checkbox on one of the active tables (all tables are currently empty). I then randomly seat the clock operator. The player is seated on one of the non-clock tables.

OK, a few things...

The *intention* is that you are seating multiple players at one time. You don't have to FIRST seat the clock operator and THEN seat everyone else. If you are seating multiple players at once, then everything works as it should.

If you are seating one player at a time (which is what you're doing), you might not get the result you expect. Here's why.

The random seating wizard has the following goals, in order of priority:
1. Ensure the tables are balanced
2. Ensure one of the clock tables gets a clock operator (if applicable)
3. Ensure each table gets at least one expert (if applicable)

Now, if you're seating one player randomly, the wizard will seat them at the low table, regardless of clock operator or expert.

What I've tweaked is that if there are multiple low tables with the same player count (which was your case), the clock table gets pushed up to the top of the list, so it is considered first in case you are trying to seat a clock operator.

In general, though, you'll get best results if you seat many players at one time.

Thanks for the tweak.

Since I'm the clock operator, I randomly seat myself first before I set up the poker tables. I then randomly seat each person as they pay the buyin.
