Please give me access to the licence keys area of the BB. I ordered a week ago. Also please let me know about the ordering in the middle of the quarter as I asked when I sent payment. Last time I ordered in the middle of the quarter and did not receive a full 3 months of use for my payment. If this is a problem let me know. I still think a lifetime licencing fee is a good idea.

Hey Jon!

Next time send the Doc a PM on the troubles you may or may not be having. It is easier for him to fix your problems that way.

He tries to get through as many "How do I's" as possible, but this is the sort of thing you should discuss in private with him.

Thank you for your (not so) subtle reprimand. However, unless Dr. Neau - not a real doctor - is a thirteen year old child, which I highly doubt, he probably does not need your help and is very capable.

I actually use this software in a professional capacity. I think this software is a legitimate product and does an excellent job of delivering what it promises. I do not need the options provided by password. Running tournaments at the casino level is usually done easier manually as our tourneys are usually very straightforward. The password saves me the minor inconvenience of altering my console in a small way every tournament.

That being said, I believe in supporting someone's hard work and effort in producing an excellent product, and I appreciate his being open to user's ideas in implementing them. I do not believe in suscribing quarterly, so every so often I send a quarterly payment. I have sent 2 this year. If he had a lifetime licensing fee - essentially buying the product as I can with every other program I considered - I would gladly pay a competitive price, but he chooses not to do this.

I do however believe that once you take someone's money for a service or product there needs to be delivery of said service or product in a timely manner, even if the amount of money is rather inconsequential. This post was not a miscalculation, it was just another to add to the rest asking for access to what they paid for.

You are just the only one who thinks Dr. Neau - not a real doctor - needs your help and protection.

I have to speak up here and voice my agreement with jonwood65. I too sent in a payment nearly a week ago and am still waiting for access to the password area. I'm pretty patient, but it;s starting to wear slightly thin. What makes it worse, as that this is the sencond time this has happened to me. The 1st time, it too 2 weeks just to get in contact with Dr. Neau to get my access though email and PMs on this forum.

I also agree in suporting what I consider to be the BEST software out there for what I use it for, but I also believe that you can have the best product in the world and it'll get overlooked it your customer support is lacking.

I very much want to continue using Dr. Neau's software, but I urge him to rethink his payment and licensing process as it appears to not be working well at all.

You just have to love when a post is read the wrong way!

Jonwood65, I was simply suggesting to you that the quickest way for you to arrive at a resolution to your problem would be to correspond directly with him. The option of Private Messaging provides you the ability to do that.

I too have had issues with getting access to the “License Keys” topic from time to time. However, I have found that sending him a PM was the best and fastest way at getting assistance and a response. Whether or not you choose to do that is your own decision. Maybe you did send a PM to him earlier on, but I don’t know.

To quote, “I do however believe that once you take someone's money for a service or product there needs to be delivery of said service or product in a timely manner …” I concur with you on that point. However, I think that someone who’s is making an attempt to provide the global poker community with a superior product at the expense of his own cost and time; and only seek renumeration at a mere fraction of the cost of other products in the marketplace, can at the very least be given a little latitude when he doesn’t respond in six or seven days.

If you feel that you have been wronged, then talk to Mr. Neau directly. You need not air your dirty laundry in this manner. It worked for me, maybe it will work for you.

Failing that, since you are too frugal to spend $40.00 per calendar year for the password option, I suggest that you rake more money at your tournaments!

Well, there's a couple points here...

Notes People Include In Their PayPal Payment
When you make a payment, I *usually* get a detailed email from PayPal. Sometimes I miss the comments users put in the bottom of the note because it is buried down in the details. Sometimes I catch it. Best way to get the questions answered is to send me a separate email/PM with the question.

What Do You Mean You Usually Get Email from PayPal?
Usually, I get email from PayPal in my Inbox right after you make your payment. Occasionally, people make a payment and I don't get an email for whatever reason. Rarely, I find the email mixed in with the hundreds of emails I get each day that are flagged as SPAM.

Turns out both of your mails ended up in my SPAM bucket. I'm not sure why quite yet.

This is exactly why I put this note right above the buttons where you make payment:

Quote:
Please note: If you don't hear from me within 2 days of making your first payment, please send an email to orders@drneau.com with your PayPal order number. I've run into a few situations where email from my ISP has been marked as "spam".

Please don't tell me I need a better spam system. I get about 400 emails each day, most of which are flagged as spam. Of the ones that aren't flagged, about 90% of those are spam too and I have to weed through them by hand. That's the problem with putting your email address on the internet...although I get lots of good offers for Viagra!

Ordering in the Middle of the Quarter?
As you should know by now, my licenses for v2 only expire at the end of the month. So, if you order in a given month, you really get access until the end of the 3rd month after that...if you stay on top of downloading keys after they are posted (usually around the 15th of each month, I post the key good until the end of the following month).

Each month, before posting the next key, I do the following:
- Send email to everyone who has service expiring in the current month letting them know I'm removing them from the access list, then remove them from the access list.
- Post the new password.
- Send email to everyone who has service expiring in the following month letting them know that even though their service expires mid-next-month that they can use the key until the end of next month.
Note: Only people who haven't set up recurring payments get these emails. People with recurring payments stay on the access list until they cancel their service.

Uh, yes you did. You just didn't download the password before I removed you from the list, and you didn't ask me for it after I removed you from the list.

It's no secret that a key is good for any system out there...which is the primary reason I don't give an "eternal key", because it would take only one a-hole to screw me. I also didn't really WANT to tie keys to a system because I knew that people didn't always know in advance which system they'd run the software on. What if your system crashes right before the tournament? Currently, you just download the software on a new system and go get the key again.
I'm considering other licensing options for v3. For v2, I came up with something simple and manageable.

My fear though is that whatever lifetime fee I'd come up with would either be more than someone would think is fair or less than what would be worth it for me.
The pay-as-you-go seems to work for now.

The other week, a user ordered a key on Saturday morning and was upset that he didn't get the key in time for his Sunday tournament. He argued that I should have an automatic system for handling this whole process.

Responding to new requests doesn't really have anything to do with how the product is licensed...not that that's what you were saying.

As I said above, I'm considering other options for v3. For instance:
- A non-expiring key tied to a single system.
- An expiring key tied to a single system.
- Keys like I have now that need to be enabled system by system.

I will add, you tend to only see complaints about the licensing on here. Nobody's ever going to post saying, "Wow!". But I can honestly tell you that I've received far more "Thanks for responding so quickly!" emails than I have "What the f&%k is going on??" emails.

Dear Dr. -

First, let me wish you a Merry Christmas (Happy Hollidays if you more inclined).

This is just a reminder to you asking that you be sure to take just a little time out this holiday season to get us our January 2009 License Keys for V2 (though I'm about to pee my pants waiting for V3)...
