Ran a "Shootout" tournament using v3's Standard Tournament type. I just turned off auto-balancing and consolidation. However, it's got me thinking about how I'll make a tournament type optimized for Shootout tournaments. This will not slow down the v3 GA.
For those who don't know, a Shootout tournament starts with X number of people at each table. You then play each table down to a fixed number and have the survivors move on to the next round, usually resetting the chip stacks.

"Celebrity Poker Showdown" was a great example of a Shootout. They had 5 tables that played down to 1 player. The winners of each table played in the rest round.

So, it's got me thinking what v3 needs to best handle a Shootout.

My thoughts so far:
- A tool to help you calculate the optimal number of tables/people per table/number to play down to/etc.

Would like to have the option not to reset chip stacks too like on the Poker Millions finals where (from memory) they have two tables of six and each table plays down to three then they combine and keep their current chips...or something like that...

Oh, you can definitely do that. I wouldn't stop you.

Actually, resetting chip stacks is something I need to make special accomodation for because it affects average stack. Carrying the chips through is easier for the app to handle Smile
