I just worked on this today, and now I see that there's a beta for v3. Sigh.
Hopefully v3 will solve the one HUGE problem I have, in that the background images won't display if the tournament status is changed (from pre to play to break, etc). Also they go twitchy if I don't load the console and tournament and resize the window in the proper order. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with transparency.
So, basically, I can't use it unless I want to eliminate breaks from the schedule and just keep track of 'em on my own. But then, that screws up the design considering the "next break" spot. And it's a bad work-around.
Guess I get to spend some time looking at that beta... _________________ Wherever you go, there you are. |

Looks Nice! Hopefully I'll get some time to mess around with the console. I'm hosting my second tourney using the tourney manager, sure makes running it easier.
Again, looks great!

Also...
The good news is that console layouts are a hell of a lot easier to create in v3.
Not sure why you're having problems with v2, though. I use background images on my consoles. _________________ --

Then gimme v3 already!
Thanks for the props. This one was fairly easy with TM. First I had to buy DINschrift, which is the WSOP text font. Thankfully it was only $20. After that I just did simple blocks in the TD designer, then did a screen capture. Imported that into Photoshop as a base. Probably should have used Illustrator, but I'm more comfy with Pshop, and it was just a one-off. From there I opened up some of my screen grabs from WSOP broadcasts to use as a reference.
I couldn't just use the graphics, as they were too low-res, so from that point on there was a lot of shape drawing, masking, overlays, gradients, warping, more overlays, etc, then used the screen grab of TM to place it all.
I wanted to give a bit of the feel of the blue lights on the final table crowd, so for the background texture I did some blue fields with noise, zoomed in, filtered, blurred, more noise, and a few overlays.
Oh, and for the custom chip in the corner, I had a lot of grabs from the broadcast, and warped the letters (they were all from the flying chip segue animation) to get a good starting template, then re-drew what I needed at a high resolution. Again probably better in Illustrator, but I'd spend more time going "WTF, this is different from eight versions ago which is the last time I used Illustrator," and I was doing a limited characterset and it was only a handful of "pieces" to create all the characters, so I went with what I knew.
See? Easy! _________________ Wherever you go, there you are. |
