Hey folks, recently got a new machine (giant 24" iMac, woohoo!), and I have a problem with background images. Basically, they'll display for a short while, then disappear. I can get them back by re-sizing the window sometimes, but it doesn't last. I like doing a textured background behind translucent components, so this is sad for me. On the other hand, it seems faster if I don't have any transparency.

Any thoughts? I didn't have this problem on my G4 iBook.

Transparency = more frequent repaints.

Not sure why they are disappearing, though.

While working on my latest console, got some more testing on this.

Here's what I have to do so that they don't disappear. Transparency doesn't seem to have anything to do with it.

* Load TM with the default consoles selected to run.
* Set my preferred screen size.
* Load and start my tourney.
* Select my custom console.

But if I change to or from a break, or to the pre/post tourney states, all background are done, and switching around only very occasionally seems to bring them back. Also editing the console will make it go goofy. It usually won't display anywhere once I edit, tho' will occasionally pop up either in the design preview window or the design window (but usually blank there too).

Oddly, my fix for an inline graphic that displays pixelated is to either change the tourney state or load a new tourney. In other words, background graphics and inline graphics have the exact opposite workarounds for their particular glitches.

Anyway, not sure if that helps you while writing all your new code, and it's probably too late anyway, but take that for what it's worth.
