I've been spending a lot of free cycles since my last post figuring out how to handle sidebets and bounties in v3.
I'd gone through the thought process on bounties (and posted that already), then started expanding that to general sidebets. Really, a bounty is just a special type of sidebet. Other types of sidebets are things such as:
- Last-longer bets
- High-hand
- Bad-beat
- Most knockouts
- Etc. etc.
So, if you look at it at the highest level, all sidebets have the following properties:
- Participants (either "global" or a list of players)
- Cost to participate. The cost has three components (portion toward sidebet pool, portion toward league pool and portion toward rake). Global sidebets have no cost.
- Amount from general prize pool added to sidebet pool
- Amount from sidebet pool given back to general prize pool
Bounty sidebets have the following parameters on top of the general sidebet parameters:
- Targets (either "global", or a list of players)
- Reward per knockout (either a set amount or a calculated amount based on the size of the pool, the number of participants and number of targets)
- Eliminations to pay (first only, last only or all).
Non-bounty sidebets have the following parameters on top of the general sidebet parameters:
- Payout plan (kinda like the tournament payout plan. You could payout fixed amounts, non-cash prizes and/or percentages of the sidebet pool)
- Candidate entries and standings (for instance, for high-hand you'd enter the player and the hand, then order them) _________________ --
