|
|
We have a core group of players who play nearly every week. These core players contribute an extra couple of bucks towards a league prize pool that will be awarded at the end of the season. We also have the occassional "guest" player who shows up from time to time but has chosen not to be part of the league. Two enhancements would help us out:
(1) In addition to the normal buy-in, allow for a league prize pool contribution to be collected in each league tourney. And track the total amount of the league prize pool over the course of the season.
(2) Allow players to be designated as guest players. These players would not make any contributions towards the league prize pool, would not receive any league points, and would not be tracked in the league standings. (Basically, they would be treated just like a player who has not met the minimum number of tourneys to be eligible for the league.) |

We have the same issue, and it would be nice. However, the issue I have always had with this concept is how to work the points. You would almost need to be running a mythical tournament inside the actual one to determine place a league player was knocked out, mythical winnings based on payout structure applied to league players only (if that is part of your points calculation) etc.
If someone can figure out how to do it and make it work in a league, it would be nice. I just think it would be a tough one to work for points. |

Here's the plan for v3. This is pretty firm.
1
Each tournament will have its own assignable ranking method (unlike in v2 where all tournaments within a league had to have the same ranking method).
2
Ranking methods consist of two types:
- Forumla (pretty much as you know it in v2...but probably with more options
- Spreadsheet (more on that here: http://www.drneau.com/SpreadsheetRankingMethod/SpreadsheetRankingMethod.html)
3
Players within a tournament get league points from two sources:
- The assigned ranking method, +
- A manual league points field that you can type any value into. (Defaults to "0")
So, a player's league points for a tournament are the sum of their ranking method points and their manually assigned points.
4
A league is a collection of tournaments like before. In v3, you'll be able to specify which tournaments in the league count toward the point total. (For instance, right now in v2, I can't include my league championship in the league without it counting toward the point total.)
5
A league will have a listing of all players that are in it. You'll be able to specify which players should count toward the league rankings (in essence, who is a league player and who isn't). _________________ --
