I'm looking around for interesting variations of our standard tourny structure. We normally 3 or 4 tables of 8 players, rebuys for the first 3 rounds. We like to play a structure where everyone gets the opportunity to play a couple of hours, and not one that they could bust in 10 minutes and go home. We have added bounties, shooting stars, and knockout bonuses, just to keep things interesting. Last month we did a three table shootout.
I looking for ideas. What kind of NLHE tourneys do you play?
Also, I was thinking about a structure where we play 3 SNGs in a night, with everyplayer getting points for finishing order and the winner of each table getting small money. the people with the most points at the end of the night would split the big money. Anyone play any structure like this?
Does anyone have a good blind schedule for a 90 minute SNG?
chime in.
thanks in advance

For S&Gs here's the structure we use.... which for us usually lasts an hour for 10 players...
Code: | $150 chips - 10min levels
1 / 2
2 / 4
3 / 6
5 / 10 - 1
7 / 14 - 1
10 / 20 - 2
15 / 30 - 3
20 / 40 - 4
25 / 50 - 5
30 / 60 - 6
40 / 80 - 7
50 / 100 - 10 |
They usually end around level 6, so for 1-1/2 hours you could make it 15min/level or if your players don't like antes for S&Gs then leave them off & make it 12min/level and it will go to roughly level 7.
We have a different chipset for S&Gs but you could always multiply everything by 5 or 10.
Rebuys are always tricky to figure... because a lot will depend on the number of rebuys, and that always depends on how tight/loose passive/aggr your players are and how fast your structure goes. Seems "average" for us is somewhere around 2-3 rebuys/10 players.
Our rebuy tourneys also have an add-on.. so that factors in.... and generally everyone will add-on.
Here's what we're using for freezeouts....
Code: | $2,000 chips - 25min levels
10 / 20
20 / 40
30 / 60
40 / 80 - 5
60 / 120 - 10
80 / 160 - 15
100 / 200 - 20
125 / 250 - 25
150 / 300 - 30
200 / 400 - 40
250 / 500 - 50
300 / 600 - 60
400 / 800 - 80
500 / 1000 - 100
600 / 1200 - 125
750 / 1500 - 150
1000 / 2000 - 200
1250 / 2500 - 250
1500 / 3000 - 300
2000 / 4000 - 400
2500 / 5000 - 500
3000 / 6000 - 600
4000 / 8000 - 800
6000 / 12000 - 1200
7500 / 15000 - 1500
10000 / 20000 - 2000 |
With 30 players this would go about 6-1/2 hours with a 15min break after every 3rd level.
For rebuys to keep things at about the same timeframe, we drop the number of starting chips to $1500 and the levels to 20min with a 10min break after every 4th level. Rebuys are allowed up thru level 4 ($1000 chips for 1/2 whatever the buy-in was) anytime you have $500 or less in chips. Add-on at the 1st break (same amounts as a rebuy).
We also modify the structure a bit to have one less level...
Code: | 30 / 60
40 / 80 - 5
60 / 120 - 10
80 / 160 - 15
is replaced with...
30 / 60 - 5
50 / 100 - 10
75 / 150 - 15
