The ranking method as you know it in v2 will be vastly improved in v3:
- The "League Ranking Method" system will be split into two parts: 1) The "ranking method" which can be unique per tournament, and 2) the "aggregation method" which will be specifc for a league.
- The "Ranking Method" can be either the legacy formula (from v2), or it can be a "spreadsheet" type scoring system like most people are used to using.
- Each tournament can have its own ranking method, unlike v2 where every tournament in the league had to use the same ranking method.
- For each player in a tournament, you'll have two point attributes: Formula points and manual points. These two are added together to get the total points for that player. Manual points let you adjust outside the formula, if needed.
- An attribute of the ranking system will determine how ties in a tournament are handled (all ties get highest place, all ties get average place, etc.)
- The league has attributes that determine how the scores of the players from each of the tournaments are aggregated, including:
- Minimum participation (either a min # of tournaments or a min % of tournaments)
- Players to exclude: People that have played that shouldn't be counted in the league rankings.
- Aggregation method: How points are totaled across tournaments: Cumulative or average.
- Weighting method: Do newer tournaments count for more, or are all tournaments equal? _________________ --
