I've been running into this startup error. I usually delete files out of my audio/picture folders until the app starts ok again. What exactly is the bottleneck? number of files? Total size? Audio or Pictures?

Shouldn't be number...more likely the size.

Each and every audio and picture gets loaded into memory.

How much stuff do you have in those folders?!?

well, I initially had all the audio files from the big download unzipped into my audio file.

Also, about 20 100K photos in the photo file.

I'm still having lots of trouble setting up my consoles, and wondered if you could clue me in as to where the bottleneck might be.
This is for a game Friday, the 27th, so I hope to be finished with setup tonight.
I'm running WinXP and use the .bat file to start.
I now have about 10, 80-150k photos in the auto-load folder.
I have about 10 80-100k audio files in the auto-load folder.
I have about 10 custom consoles in the auto-load console file.
I have added messages to 3 different rotating messages, and together with a couple of the default ones (like hand names) have those running.

On several of the consoles I have a small picture box at the bottom that cycles through the auto-loaded pictures. No other graphics, on one I have a vertical scrolling marquee. mostly it's the same console with different colors to help announce the blind changes.

On 2 consoles I have a single picture set as the background, and all the components set to transparent background. These also have a scrolling league report. There are about 45 people in the league, and maybe 20 people going to buy in.

The main problem now is with the background pics. Sometimes they load, and sometimes they don't. It will work for a little while, and then I start to get errors in the DOS console,
this one is the usual one:
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

When that starts happening I can usually no longer save consoles or tournaments, and have to start any changes I made over.

Another weird thing:
within the rotating messages, it gets weird sometime where typing into one (like Rules-tournament) will erase others (like Rules-League).

Of course, I can always scale back and stop using all these nifty features, but the idea was that each month I can add to my setups and make it better and better.

Ug. long post. Anyway, any idea as to where the problem might be?
I think this forum needs a BUGS category, where we can see what the current discovered problems are, and report any Buggy situations we run into. This category probably isnt' appropriate.
