I was at Treasure Island, MN for a quick 3-hour session recently.

Had to wait to get on the only game they had going: A 2-4 Limit Hold'em (d'arg). I almost left but decided to have lunch.

Got to the table and bought-in for $120. There was a young guy who thought he was pretty good (we'll call him "Fishman")...staddling every chance he had...always checking in the dark...sometimes not looking at his cards until the river. On Fishman's right was his buddy who I'll call "Young Rookie". On my right was a guy from Mississippi who immediately announced, "I've never played before...I'm just a stud player."

First 1/2 hour was uneventful. I folded the winning hand (nut straight) at least four times in the first 15 hands...but they were all runner runner straights, so I had no business. I stuck to my game.

I started getting aggrevated by Fishman and his buddy. They were constantly chatting about the board and quietly speculating on what people had. On one hand, he actually pointed to two cards while the hand was in play and said, "That's what I needed right there!" What really pissed me off was one hand in which they were heads-up and Fishman soft-played his buddy with the nuts. These guys were going down.

I won a few hands. Never showed cards and Fishman kept trying to get me to talk. I just said, "I had the winning hand." Then I won a big hand and took a sizeable chunk of Fishman's stack with the nut straight, the hand where I said, "Don't bother splitting out the sidepot...I have the nuts". As I was raking in the pot, Fishman said something that tweaked a new player and I heard the player complain softly about Fishman and Rookie's hand chatter. That did it for me. I asked them aloud to stop it. They claimed to not know what I was talking about. I explained, they ignored me and laughed. So called the floor boss over. She warned them and threatened to kick them out if they continued. Fishman got extremely mad and raised blindly the next hand. I looked down: Jacks. I called. The flop: 10-9-8. He bet. I raised. He called. The turn: 7. He checked. I checked. River: 2. I checked. Another player bet. Fishman raised all-in. I re-raised. Other player called. I won the hand, busted Fishman and had to chip-up. I changed Fishman's nickname to "ATM".

Good times. Good times. After 2 hours at a 2-4 table, I left up $190. Wish I could do that every time.

Although, I gave it all back playing 4-8 Omaha H/L. More fun.
