I have built a pretty sweet console, basic, but I can't seem to get one piece to work. I want to set the chip case horizontal as opposed to vertical I can't seem to figure out how to get that to work. Any suggestions?

It probably has to do with the grid settings within the properties of the component.

I've matched the grid settings and all I can get is 3 chips in a row from the top of the component to the bottom as opposed to 3 chips from left to right across the component.

Well, you don't want to match them. You want to swap them.
The chip case component on the default screens has a width of 1 and a height of 0 (0 means "as much as you need").
When you create a NEW chip case component, the default width is 0 and the default height is 1. You shouldn't need to change the settings if you created a new one.
