Last week at Canterbury the jackpot was up to $12,000 when it got hit here was the hand:
Player goes all in for his last $8 with A-A
The only caller was the Big Blind with K-K
All cards are turned face up.
Flop: A-K-K, they flop the Beat Beat.
A-A gets $60k and KK gets $30k, right? Wrong.
Turn: A, the Case Ace.
That turn card cost the A-A guy $30k. Now that is Bad Win. _________________ --

That's rough! I wonder if I'd be sad to win...

Is it me or am I reading this wrong? Becuase the A came up, which means he has the 4 aces, he loses $30k? Was this hi-low or some weird version that I am not acostumed to? _________________ <thwack> NOooooooBODY expects to lose to Rewind!

The way I read it, the loser gets the larger share of the bad beat jackpot (I assume the total jackpot was $120,000 and not $12,000).
When the AA guy was losing with his Aces full, he stood to get $60k from the jackpot, but by winning the hand his share was only $30k.
Of course, he did win the $16 pot as consolation. |

Ahhh... I see now. Because he won, he lost the bad beat jackpot. Seems like the worst bad beat of all. _________________ <thwack> NOooooooBODY expects to lose to Rewind!

Hilarious... one of my buddies cashed in on that Canterbury Bad Beat jackpot a few months ago when he flipped a Royal Flush and his counterpart had Aces Full. $60K split... $30k to the Aces Full, $15K to my buddy with the Royal, $15K split amongst the rest of the table.
However, the guy that got up to have a smoke just before that hand got $0. _________________ "Play Like The Pros Play"
