Playing at one of 5thStreet's parties...he had each table use 2 decks (last dealer collects cards, shuffles and hands deck to SB while next dealer deals...nice system).

Dealer deals. Fold fold fold to me. I raise. 2 callers.

Flop comes down. I go all in on a bluff. While next person is considering, the other caller says, "Hey, who's dealing?" We look. The SB (who's got the cards ready for the next hand) had used HIS deck to deal the flop.

What should happen next?

This was a tough one. They usually don't write solutions for these kinds of dealer errors...

The flop came with two queens and the Dr. goes all in. Another guy calls him. And before the turn comes the dealers realize that something is wrong.

We backtrack the betting and return all money back to the original bettors.

It's probably best that the same flop didn't come from the original deck. The Dr. would have been out much sooner.

We play with 2 return card holders which each 10 decks.

When one card holder with 10 decks has been used, one person will shuffle all ten decks. At the same time the next holder will be used.

Speeds up the play big time. It takes about 2 minutes to shuffle 10 decks and we seperate the decks with cut cards.

THE RESOLUTION:

IF A CARD WITH A DIFFERENT COLOR BACK APPEARS DURING THE HAND, all action is void and all chips in the pot are returned to the players who wagered them.

It turns out we did handle this correctly.

Using two decks at each table works well for us too, but we have the BB shuffle for the next deal. That way, no one is shuffling their own deal, and the BB is farthest from the initial action, so he has plenty of time to shuffle before it gets around to him.
