If I were to put effort into a heads-up tournament manager, who would be interested? _________________ --

If I did it, it would be kinda like this...
- You buy people in
- You select the bracket type (single elimination/double elimination/etc.)
- You set up the payout structure
- The app sets up the bracket for you automatically based on the # of players and bracket type
- Everyone plays at once using the same clock and blinds. When a pair is done, they wait until the next round starts _________________ --

Yes, I would be interested in the Heads-Up manager.
Cheers,

The bad part about heads-up tournaments is the need for automatic card shufflers or professional dealers in order to keep it moving at a reasonable pace.
What would be really nice, is a software like UltimateBet but without the rake or the internet bound server. I've looked for multi-player, non-internet based poker software that could perform this function. Does anyone know of it?
This seems like it would be a better money-maker for the good Dr. than just another clock and bracketing software. Imagine sitting across a table with two laptops and being able to play 200 hands / hour instead of 50 hands / hour. ...much more reasonable for a heads-up tournament. |

So, I've bought 1000 chips, a dozen decks of cards... and sorted out several tables to sit at....
Now I need to buy another 20 odd laptops for my heads-up tournament!!!!
I think I'll go with "just another clock and bracketing software"... if that's OK Doc.
Cheers,

I definately understand your point. Can't argue with that from a "card room" perspective if the laptops or computers are being provided by the host.
However, the brackets could be setup by any old sports bracketing software and the blinds and clock can be run by the standard Dr. Neau product. In other words, there is little to improve on by writing his own version and thus not likely to generate much revenue for him (unless my imagination is too limited to see the potential... completely possible).
Consider my suggestion feedback and a second suggestion competing for his time and energies. I've played quite a lot of self-dealt heads-up poker and in my opinion it is a beat-down that will drive players away from a poker room or home game if offered too often. |

DD Tournement Software is what your looking for. Thier new version has LAN based and Internet based play.

Bumpity.
Doc, did you ever do any development on this? I'm thinking of doing an HU tourney on my birthday (11 Feb).
If you have something you want beta-tested, I humbly volunteer. |

Too wierd.
I was tossing around ideas today and pre-planning on how to do a HU tourney with my club. A couple of guys suggested having a tourney like this. I'm thinking best of 3, single elimination sort of thing. I would love to use TM to run it. |

I too would like to see this implemented. The regulars at my tounaments have also expressed an interest in doing a HU tourney, although single vs double elimination has not been discussed.
How hard would it be to implement an option to choose whether it is single or double? |

While Doc is pondering doing this... there IS a solution you could use in the meantime...
Simply use TM for the clock & blinds and let another app keep track of the brackets and eliminations.
There are a number of general "sports tournament" management apps out there such as "Tournament Scheduler Pro" or "Team Sports Scheduling System" that will do single/double elimination, round robin, etc.
