Ooooooo. It's getting close. Might be finished tonight.
Still need to:
- Enable the importing of league ranking method files
- Add an option to the app preferences for your auto-loaded league ranking method file
- Create the built-in ranking methods
- Test it out
It is REALLY neat. _________________ --

Okay, the new system is complete.
I'm going to describe how it works and ask you for additional ideas...
A "League Ranking Method" has a "Tournament Scoring Formula" plus a few other attributes. The other attributes of a "League Ranking Method" are:
- The name of the method
- The point format of the method (integer, double, currency or percentage)
- The aggregation method (total or average of tournament scores)
- The weighting method for the tournament scores (equal, tournament decay or time decay...the decay makes recent results more important than older results. "Tournament Decay" uses a standard decay rate per tournament, going back in time. "Time Decay" is similar but takes the date of the tournament into account...a standard decay rate per day.
- The rate of decay for the weighting method
- The minimum number of tournaments someone must play to be included in the rankings.
A "Tournament Scoring Formula" produces a score for a player in a tournament. A "Tournament Scoring Formula" is essentially a "Numeric Expression".
A "Numeric Expression" is one of the following:
- A "Numeric Constant", such as "10".
- A "Numeric Variable". Variables currently include: player's buy-in expense, add-on count, add-on expense, rebuy count, rebuy expense, bounty, bounty revenue, knockout count, total revenue, total expense, net gain, finish or place revenue. Also can be tournament buy-in count, add-on count, rebuy count or gross prize pool.
- A "Numeric Formula". Formulas take a "Numeric Expression" and perform a calculation on them. Formulas currently include: add, subtract, multiply, divide, min, max, abs, ceil, exp, floor, log, power, round or sqrt.
- A "Numeric If". This is a compound if statement. If statements consist of one or more "Boolean Expressions", one or more "Numeric Expressions" that are evaluated if the associated "Boolean Expression" is true, and a "Numeric Expression" that is evaluated if none of the expressions are true.
A "Boolean Expression" is one of the following:
- A "Boolean Constant", either "True" or "False".
- A "Boolean Formula", either "AND", "OR" or "NOT". A "Boolean Formula" takes 1 or 2 other "Boolean Expressions" as its arguments.
- A "Numeric Comparison". Compares two "Numeric Expressions" using "=", "!=", "<", "<=", ">" or ">=".
That's it. The formulas can get as complex as you want.
Now, anything missing? Any other formulas you want? _________________ --

Ok I'm struggling with it.
Doc could you post what the Johnson system should look like with your new system? |

What do you mean "struggling"?
It should look like this:
Tournament Scoring Formula:
score = (a + (10.0 * ((b - c) + 1.0)))
where
a = Player Total Revenue
b = Tournament Buy-in Count
c = Player Finish
Score accumulation method: Total
Score weighting method: Equal
Score decay rate: 0.0
Score number format: Double
Minimum tournament participation: 0 tournaments _________________ --

Struggling meaning I'm as thick as two planks. I'm trying to work through it though. |
